Our story
Grownups need a playground too
We started with one cable strung between two spruce trees and a stubborn belief that nobody is too old for this.
Alaskan Toy Company is a guide outfit based in Ketchikan. Our crew grew up on these islands — fishing before school, hauling gear on the skiff, learning which trees you can trust in a southeast blow. When we built our first zip line, it was for us.
Today we run lines through old-growth rainforest, along the edge of a hanging glacier, and across a fjord that drops straight into black water. Small groups, real guides, no scripted patter.
The rest of this site belongs to Alaska. Any Alaskan can open a stall in our marketplace and sell what they make with their hands — carvings, beadwork, knitwear, ulus, art. And anyone can post a fishing story: the halibut that bent the rail, the king that snapped the leader, the morning nothing bit and it still counted.
What we stand on
- Safety without the sermon. Inspected gear, certified guides, daily line checks.
- Small groups. Never more than eight on a line at a time.
- Local money stays local. Marketplace sellers deal direct with buyers — we take nothing.
- Leave the forest better. Platform-based construction, no clearing.

Tours run May through September, weather permitting — and in Alaska, weather is always permitting something.
